Elmsford hit with sex bias lawsuit
Barbara Peters, the incoming superintendent in Elmsford who will replace Carol Franks-Randall when she retires in July, might be wondering what she’s getting herself into. (Read today’s story about Peters and Franks-Randall here.)
In today’s paper, we wrote a story about suspended deputy superintendent Michael Senno’s gender discrimination lawsuit against the district, Franks-Randall and three Board of Education trustees. In the suit, Senno admits having a yearlong affair with Sandra Calvi Muscente, an asst. principal at Alexander Hamilton High School. He alleges that when the affair came to light the district took action against him while Calvi was not punished. You can read the article for further details or download a copy of Senno’s lawsuit here. You might remember hearing about Calvi, who was arrested last month in Mahopac on third-degree assault charges. She is currently on leave in Elmsford.
Tonight’s school board meeting promises to be interesting. After a public reception welcoming Peters tonight at the Alice E. Grady Elementary school, 45 Cobb Lane, the board will vote on the appointment of Peters, who is currently the superintendent in the upstate Tonawanda school district. It’s not certain if that will happen before or after the district is officially served with Senno’s lawsuit, which his lawyer, Jonathan Lovett, said will take place at the meeting.
Based on some comments on the site, many are concerned that children in the district will be the ones who end up hurt behind all of this.
