The Edgemont school community will host Edgemont Aid VI from 4 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. May 15 at the “campus center” of Edgemont Junior/Senior High School
This is an annual event geared toward helping charitable organizations, with the proceeds this year supporting Turn Your World Around.
Turn Your World Around is a nonprofit organization created by Edgemont senior Tara Suri. Galvanized by the sexism and poverty she encountered in India, at the age of 13, Tara founded the organization to harness the power of youth in making a global difference. The entirely youth-led organization engages youth in innovative initiatives that range from empowering sex-trafficking victims to increasing access to education.
TYWA has raised over $60,000 thus far.
Edgemont Aid is open to the entire community. It will be an evening of music and entertainment performed by local students and faculty. Money will be raised through the sale of tickets, food, t-shirts, raffles, games, silent auctions and merchandise donated by local businesses.
Past fundraisers have gone to support the Christopher Reeves Foundation and Free the Children.
