YORKTOWN HEIGHTS – Two students were recently awarded the Spirit of Service Scholarship by the Regional Youth Leadership Organization (RYLO). Suzanne Molino (Briarcliff High School) will apply the scholarship toward her studies at Northeastern University, where she plans to participate in the Doctor of Pharmacy program. Daniel Kupferschmid (Somers High School) will apply his scholarship to his studies in Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of New Hampshire.
RYLO, comprised of high school students from 19 area high schools, is an organization formed through Putnam/Northern Westchester BOCES. RYLO’s goals include building positive bridges between the schools and their programs, dealing proactively with issues concerning students in the region, and supporting acts of kindness and community service that strive to improve the quality of life for all people.
Suzanne and Daniel were awarded the Spirit of Service Scholarship based on their outstanding service to the community and their attempt to improve the lives of others. The scholarship is unique in that it has been created and funded by students to recognize the good work of other students. It is awarded annually to graduating seniors from area high schools who intend to further their education at an accredited college.
