The Chappaqua team beat Kellenberg Memorial High School on Long Island. Chappaqua was last champion in 2008.
On Wednesday (on TV at least, if not in real time), Greeley beat the Staples High School team from Westport, Conn. in the semi-final round.
MSG Varsity will repeat the Tri-State Championship match on June 18, at 6:30 p.m. and on June 20 and 25 at 8:00 p.m. The Tri-State Semi-Finals match will also repeat on News 12 Westchester on June 20 and 27 at 9:30 p.m.
“It has been an amazing season for Horace Greeley High School. Some 184 high schools in the tri-state region competed on The Challenge, but only Horace Greeley High School can claim a perfect winning streak, “ said Theresa Chillianis, MSG Varsity’s General Manager. “MSG Varsity is pleased to give such bright students the chance to showcase their academic achievements and we congratulate them on their hard-fought victory. I am sure their families and everyone at Horace Greeley High School must be extremely proud of this accomplishment.”
Representing Horace Greeley High School were Samuel Caywood (team captain), Rishab Guha, Paul Kim, William Mantell and Kamil Sadik. The academic advisors were Nicole Diamente and Gerard Furey.
The Greeley team won $10,000 for their school and $500 for each team member competing in that final round.
