Job: Physical education teacher, Sloatsburg Elementary School, Ramapo Central School District
How long: 17 years at S.E.S.
The latest: Wojehowski has been named Elementary Teacher of the Year by the New York State Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance. He’ll be honored at a statewide conference in November.
Why he does it: “To me, physical activity, exercise, is incredibly important. It’s something I take very seriously for myself and my family. Mix in my love of kids and it’s a perfect profession for me. And this community is so supportive of any crazy games I come up with for the kids.”
Hard-earned wisdom: “Never get complacent. Always search for new ideas. It’s great that I got this award, but it doesn’t mean that I’ve figured it all out. When I go to the conference, I’ll be trying to get idea from everyone else. What are they doing with their classes?”
