For students who need or want to crack a text book over summer vacation …
Archbishop Stepinac High School and Successful Study Skills 4 Students (S4) will host two sessions of study skills workshops, one designed for middle school students and one for high school students.
Students from throughout the region are welcome to enroll in the workshops in addition to Archbishop Stepinac students. Archbishop Stepinac High School is a Catholic, all-boys high school that enrolls about 675 students from the Lower Hudson Valley and New York City.
The workshops foster academic achievement by teaching students key study strategies that help them learn while reducing stress, according to the company. Skills include: goal setting, time management, note-taking methods, asking questions, active reading, understanding main ideas and important details, using visuals, summarizing to learn, notebook organization, and quiz, test and long-term project preparation strategies. The S4 program provides materials that complement and outline the workshop sessions for at-home support.
Both the middle and high school workshops will be held on Tuesday, Aug. 19 through Thursday, Aug. 21 at Archbishop Stepinac High School, 950 Mamaroneck Ave, White Plains.
The 7.5 hour, 3-session workshop is $395, with a 10 percent sibling discount offered. The workshops include all in-class materials, original S4 Teach Sheets for each skill taught, and post-parent emails after each session. Class size limited to 15.
