Exciting news from Hendrick Hudson:
Hendrick Hudson High School Class of 2010 graduate T.J. Olesczuk was recently drafted by the Baltimore Orioles in the Major League Baseball Draft.
Upon graduating from Hen Hud, Olesczuk went on to play at Winthrop University in Rock Hill, S.C. While at Winthrop, T.J. was a career .300 hitter who had a 2014 first team All-Big South Conference performance, and was an All-Academic Team selection. In 2014, Olesczuk had his finest season, hitting .389. That batting average was second best in the conference. He was also in the top ten in the conference in six different offensive categories.

At Hen Hud, T.J. was an All Section performer on the baseball diamond. While at Hen Hud he also participated on the varsity soccer and basketball teams. In addition, T.J. won the Con Ed Scholar Athlete Award during the spring of his senior season.
His head coach at Winthrop, Tom Riginos, was very excited about T.J. being drafted, saying, “I am extremely excited for T.J. I have believed since T.J. was a freshman that he would have an opportunity to play professional baseball, and yesterday it came true. He had an outstanding year for us and he deserves this opportunity that the Baltimore organization has given him. We all hope to see T.J. in the big leagues soon.”
Hen Hud Athletic Director, Tom Baker, agreed with Riginos: “I was thrilled for T.J. upon his drafting into the Baltimore organization. To see T.J. come through our community’s programs in the Cortlandt National Little League, then participate with Hen Hud’s baseball program, then Winthrop, and now the Baltimore Orioles, is quite rewarding. I am very proud of T.J. and wish him the best of luck with his professional career and I am looking forward to following him.”
