Mount Pleasant schools is considering borrowing $55.8 million for improvements to Westlake High/Middle School that include enhanced laboratories, space for changes to the physical education curriculum and a new access road.
A presentation, including plans from the architectural firm of KG & D, will be given at the board meeting, set for 8 p.m. tonight at the Westlake High School library. The meeting is open to the public.
Schools Superintendent Susan Guiney said the district would like to ask voters to decide on the plan at a Nov. 15 vote. After tonight’s presentation, a newsletter with more details, including the potential tax increase, will be sent out, she said.
The last time the district went for a bond vote was about a decade ago, when money was approved to upgrade Hawthorne and Columbus Avenue schools.
